So I just downloaded the trial version of GRLevel3. My county offers plenty of GIS data and I have used it in another program without any problems. I am new to this so I'm sure its something simple I'm messing up. When I go to load a Shapefile it will take the shapefile however I cannot find the 'stylefile' Can someone please help?!? i love this program so far and I don't want to give up on it quite yet!! Below are the steps I used when trying to attempt the above mentioned shapefile On the Menu I did GIS ---> Load ShapeFile... ---> click the '...' to lookup the Shape File. The above works just fine. I find the file that I unzipped from the download from my county and a single shapefile is selected. When I go to hit the '...' to lookup the Style File I cannot find any style files to select. Am I supposed to convert one of the unzipped files to a '.sty' file format? Any help is greatle appreciated! -Rob

Hi,
Create a text file alongside the shapefile and insert this:
;--------------------------------------------------------------------- ; ; Sample 2010 TIGER road shapefile style file. ; ; ; Format of the color line: ; ; Color: "field" "value" threshold r g b ; ; "field" - is one of the shapefile attributes ; "value" - a string to match (no wildcards allowed) ; threshold - the zoom threshold in miles (zero excludes the field/value) ; r g b - standard color value, range 0-255 ; ; All numbers should be integers. ;
Status: FULLNAME FRADDR FEDIRP FENAME FETYPE FEDIRS
Color: "MTFCC" "S1100" 500 77 0 153 Color: "MTFCC" "S1200" 50 153 0 0 Color: "MTFCC" "S1400" 20 36 36 36 Color: "MTFCC" "S1500" 10 36 36 36 Color: "MTFCC" "S1630" 10 255 255 255
That's the default style used by the Tiger Roads shapefiles, and it should work fine.
